Drain Tarps & Leak Diverter Tarps
A drain tarp (also called a leak diverter tarp) protects people, equipment, and inventory from active roof leaks, ceiling leaks, and pipe leaks. MyTarp.com stocks drain tarps in polyethylene, anti-static vinyl, and flame-retardant vinyl — in sizes from 3' x 3' through 20' x 20'. Most in-stock orders ship within 1 business day.
Drain tarp (leak diverter): A suspended tarp with a built-in 3/4" garden hose connector that catches overhead leaks and routes water safely away through a standard garden hose (not included). Corner D-rings allow suspension with bungee cords or rope. Widely used by roofing contractors and facility maintenance teams.
Whether you are responding to an emergency ceiling drip in a warehouse, protecting server racks in a data center, or keeping merchandise dry during roof repairs, a drain tarp gives you a fast, reusable solution until the source leak is fixed.
Material options
- Polyethylene drain tarps — economical 11 MIL woven reinforced poly for general indoor leak control.
- Anti-static drain tarps — 11 oz anti-static vinyl for areas with electronics, computers, and factory equipment.
- Flame-retardant drain tarps — 13 oz FR vinyl laminated polyester for facilities that require flame-retardant materials.
Choosing the right size
Match the tarp to the leak footprint, not the whole room. For a single drip point, a 3' x 3' or 4' x 4' tarp is usually easiest to position and suspend. Use 6' x 6' to 10' x 10' when the leak spreads across a larger ceiling area or when you need extra margin around equipment. For long runs along a pipe or seam, consider a 3' x 25' or 10' x 20' layout.
If you have multiple leak spots, several smaller drain tarps — one per leak — are typically easier to install and more cost-effective than one oversized tarp covering the entire area.
How to install a drain tarp
Position the tarp directly under the roof, ceiling, or pipe leak. Attach a standard 3/4" garden hose to the built-in connector and route the hose to a floor drain, bucket, or other safe discharge point. Suspend the tarp from the four corner D-rings using bungee cords or rope so the lowest point funnels water into the connector. After the leak is repaired, remove the tarp and store it for reuse.
Note: A garden hose is not included. Replacement hose connectors are available if the original is lost or damaged.
