Flame Retardant Poly Tarps
Our Flame Retardant Poly Tarps are made in the USA from 3-ply woven reinforced polyethylene at a true 11–12 mil thickness. They are flame retardant, waterproof, and UV-coated on both sides — the lightweight, economical fire retardant tarp option for jobs where a fire-rated cover is required but a heavy vinyl tarp is more than you need. Finished in off-white with rustproof grommets approximately every 2 ft on all four sides, they ship in sizes from 6′ × 8′ up to 100′ × 100′.
What Is a Flame Retardant Poly Tarp?
A flame retardant poly tarp is a polyethylene tarp treated so it resists ignition and is self-extinguishing — it slows and stops flame spread rather than feeding it. It is flame/fire retardant, not fireproof: it will not survive direct, sustained flame, but it meets the fire-rated requirement common on construction sites, in venues, and around equipment. It is the poly (plastic) alternative to heavier fire retardant vinyl tarps.

FR Poly vs FR Vinyl — Which Should You Choose?
The main fire retardant decision is poly vs vinyl. FR poly is lighter and far more economical; FR vinyl-laminated polyester is heavier and more durable for demanding, long-term use. Choose based on weight, lifespan, and budget:
| Option | Material | Weight | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flame Retardant Poly Tarps (this collection) | 3-ply woven reinforced poly | 11–12 mil, 5.6 oz — lightweight | Construction, roof, equipment & site covers needing an economical FR tarp |
| 13 oz FR Vinyl Laminated Polyester | FR vinyl laminated polyester | 13 oz — light vinyl | Curtains & enclosures needing a true vinyl FR |
| 18 oz FR Vinyl Laminated Polyester | FR vinyl laminated polyester | 18 oz — mid vinyl | Heavier-duty FR tarps, tents & containment |
| 22–32 oz FR Vinyl Laminated Polyester | FR vinyl laminated polyester | 22–32 oz — heaviest | Premium, long-life FR for demanding jobsites |
